Who We Are

Established in 1986, Ambiotec Engineering Group is one of the largest, locally owned engineering firms in the Rio Grande Valley. We are a certified Historically Underutilized Business (HUB No. 1742893119400)in the State of Texas and provide full-service, in-house civil engineering, environmental engineering, planning and surveying services throughout the region. Our corporate headquarters are located in Brownsville, Texas, with an additional office in Harlingen.

Ambiotec is celebrating over 30  years of partnering with communities, municipalities, and industries offering client-focused services and solutions that help develop the foundation for sustainable communities.

Our professional staff includes over 20 experienced civil and environmental engineers, land surveyors, CAD designers/draftsmen, environmental scientists, hydrologists, GIS analysts, geologists and technicians.

Ambiotec project staff has extensive experience with community and commercial projects up and down the U.S.-Texas Border and throughout South Texas.

Founder

Carlos Marin

Project Manager

Dr. Marin started Ambiotec in 1986 after obtaining his B.S. and M.S. from Rice University, his Ph.D. from Harvard University and serving on the faculty of Duke University’s School of Engineering and Environmental Studies. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas and has over thirty years of consulting experience in civil and environmental engineering. His current professional interests include the integration of infrastructure, land use, and economic development policies to create competitive communities that attract private sector investments to meet community development goals. His public policy interests center around the promotion of U.S/Mexico Binational Border economic development strategies to reduce illegal immigration pressures and the effects of insecurity on U.S/Mexico trade and investment.
